Seide TUMIM

March 2016

Death register
The civilian death registers tells us that  Seide TUMIM died in 1929.
He was born around 1861 and the son of  Abraham  and Breina Ita Alta TUMIM.
His unusual given name Seide means "grandfather".
The story I was told was that when a child  was very ill, and to confuse the angel of death, the original given name was changed to Seide. Confirmation?
It is interesting that Seide is the name in the official death register.

JRI - Poland
In 1911, in Skole,  Seide  TUMIM's son  Jossel TUMIM, born ca 1888, married Rifka Rechel BRATSPIES EPSTEIN.
The marriage register says that Jossel TUMIM was the son of Seide TUMIM and Chaja nee FRÄNKEL.
At the time of this wedding, Seide TUMIM  was around 50 years old.

One of Seide TUMIM's granddaughters, Rosa WEINBERGER nee LIEBERMAN , wrote a Page of Testimony in 1983 for her mother Chana LIEBERMAN nee TUMIM. She wrote in Yiddish that Chana's parents were Nachum Zvi Seidel  and Chaja TUMIM .
Two of Chana LIEBERMAN's children, siblings of Rosa WEINBERGER, were Abraham LIEBERMANN and Feiga LIEBERMANN who were both murdered  in Holocaust, according to additional Pages of Testimony.
