  1. Is it possible to have a close up of the hebrew inscription on the headstone for Symche Derbfleisch ?
My grandfathers hebrew name was Mordechai ben Simcha, his surname before he changed it was Derbfleisch so its possible this may be my great grandfather.

    1. Dear Sir or Madam,

Hersz Derbfleisch and his wife Rachela, were the grandparents of my great grandmother Rachela Klarmann nee Berger and her brother Hersz (Herman) Berger, them both being the children of Kreindel (Karoline) Berger nee Derbfleisch.

I would be delighted to know your own family history in relation to the Derbfleisch family.

      Kind Regards

      Benjamin Klarmann

    2. Dear Benjamin Klarman,
My part is, without any family connection to Lubaczow, to document the Jews who once lived there. Part of that is the documenation of the local Jewish cemetery.
I have always remembered the Derbfleisch name, because it is such an unusual name.
As Simcha DERBLEISCH who died in 1936 and was buried in Lubaczow, was born ca 1858 in Wolica Derewlanska, my guess would be that his father Hersz Hirsch DERBFLEISCH was born around 1825-1830, and that Hersz' father was born around 1790 - 1800.
Based on when your relative Hersch BERGER was born, that may help you deduct that Hirsch Hersz DERBFLEISCH had died earlier than that.

In 1935/1936 in the city of Lwow, there were several persons with the family name DERBFLEISCH. One was Hersch DERBFLEISCH.
      Check https://genealogyindexer.org/directories

      To sum this up:
It seems like Hersz Hirsch and Rachel Rachela DERBFLEISCH at least had two children:
      1. Your ancestor Kreindel DERBFLEISCH married BERGER
      2. The man buried in Lubaczow , Simche DERBFLEISCH ( ca 1858 - 1936) The family seems to have lived in Wolics Derewlansks, now in the Ukraine.

  2. From the text on the gravestone, the father of the deceased was Zvi Hersz DERBFLEISCH.
Do you know if your family was from Wolica Derewlanska, now Volytsya-Derevlyans'ka in the Ukraine?

  3. According to Where Once We Walked, only 22 Jews lived in Volytsya-Derevlyanska before the Holocaust, so it seems likely that Symche DERBFLEISCH is a relative of yours. If you have Hersz and Rachela DERBFLEISCH in your tree, please tell me.
