This blog regarding those buried at the Jewish Cemetery of Lubaczow, replaces blogs from 2013 and 2014. Thanks to: 1. Bogdan Lisze, my local contact, who photographed many of the stones. Sadly he died in July 2024. 2. Descendants of the Jewish families who once lived in Lubaczow for sharing their knowledge. 3. Jewish Records Indexing- Poland for their valuable assistance in improving the data. Corrections and improvements are welcome. Eva Floersheim efloersheim (at) gmail.com

Ellis Island (1892-1924) and the Death Register (1914-1938)
This will be the first of three lists of persons who emigrated from Lubaczow and from Poland.
1. Some went west across the Atlantic Ocean to the States and were registered at Ellis Island during the years 1892 - 1924.
2. Some left Poland and settled in other European countries - Germany, Belgium, Austria, France etc. Sadly these are the names we encounter in the lists of Holocaust victims published by those same countries.
3. Some went to Eretz Israel - both before the Holocaust , but also as survivors after the Holocaust. Many of those were members of a Lubaczow Landsmannschaft in Israel.
Using these three lists, we can then compare the family names to the names in the Lubaczow Death Register (1914-1938) and to the names of graves we have located, so far.
This way, we will see that the cemetery in Lubaczow still has relevance for relatives abroad and they may want to visit their family graves in Lubaczow.
ELLIS ISLAND
The Ellis Island website has several immigrants who listed Lubaczow as the place they had come from.
Using these family names and comparing them to the Lubaczow Death Register, I find that many names are on both lists.
As we have not located all those listed in the Death Register, I have therefore made a third column for located graves.
Children's graves do not seem to have gravestones.
