This gravestone has no family name on it, but thanks to an email I received from Miriam E. in 2010, I have now added the family name KOENIG . This is Miriam and her sister Rivkah's grandfather.
In 2010, Miriam gave me the following information:
1. Her grandfather was Moshe Koenig.
2. He died just before the war on Sh'vat 12th.
3. His father's name was Yaakov Josef.
4. She believed the two were buried next to each other
5. She also believed they were buried near the grave of Rabbi Schorr who was the rabbi of Lubaczow.
6. Her mother went to the grave when the war was over and the gravestone was still up then.
In 2010 I did not see that I had indeed registered her grandfather's grave as Grave 17 in Row 1 and her greatgrandfather's grave as Grave 16 in Row 1.
When I entered the information on the blog in 2013, I found that because Miriam had given me such detailed information, it was possible to identify the grave, even without the family name.
One detail was slightly different:
Her grandfather did not die in 1939 , but in January 1940 during the Soviet occupation.
Another matter is still unsolved:
Grave 18 on this row I had not been able to read, only knew that it was a grave of a man.
I had hoped somebody visiting Lubaczow would photograph this gravestone. That somebody turned out to be me, in January 2014 , but I still have problems reading the text.
Rabbi Kisiel / Kasiel SCHORR died in 1918 after serving as a rabbi in Lubaczow. He was the father of Rabbi Lewi Isak SCHORR who then continued to serve as a rabbi in Lubaczow. Rabbi Lewi Izak SCHORR was murdered in the Holocaust.
If Grave 18 on this row turns out to be the grave of Rabbi Kisiel / Kasiel SCHORR who died in 1918, then the story told in the Koenig family will have helped us locate Rabbi Schor's grave.
In January 2014 the Koenig family, 16 persons, came from the States and from Israel and did the Yahrzeit ceremony in Lubaczow.
