Why start a new blog in 2015?

My name Is Eva Floersheim and I have visited the Jewish cemetery in Lubaczow in 2002,2003, 2008, 2013 and 2014.

You may be a relative of one of the persons buried in this cemetery.
You may be a local citizen who want to learn about the Jewish community that once existed in Lubaczow.
You may be a person who plan to visit this very special cemetery in the future.
You may, based on family names,  be looking for unknown relatives who could have lived in Lubaczow.

Welcome to the newest blog about the Jewish cemetery in Lubaczow!

Why a new blog?

The Year 2013

In 2013, after publishing my first blog about this cemetery - I discovered I needed a more userfriendly version. Searching for information on the blog became too complicated.

The Year 2014.

In 2014 I decided to split the blog into three separate blogs, and  finished two of those. One of them was the blog that enabled you to "walk" through the cemetery, row by row, grave by grave. The second blog tried to concentrate on those graves that had, to some extent, been identified.

The Year  2015

Now, in 2015,  something great happened, thanks to the assistance of Jewish Records Indexing - Poland.

My belief is that this new blog will be a real improvement.

1. Future links to Jewish Records Indexing - Poland
This blog will later be linked to the Lubaczow Death Register (Sept 2nd 1914 - Dec 26th 1938)  and will be searchable in the Jewish Records Indexing - Poland database.

2. The Breakthrough: Comparing Death Dates according to the two different calendars
Jewish Records Indexing-Poland  has arranged for me to obtain the exact death dates, written according to the general/Christian calendar in the 1914 - 1938 Lubaczow Death Register, in order to compare those to the dates of death, according to the Hebrew calendar, that I have registered during my visits to Lubaczow.  This is a significant breakthrough.

3. Six  Groups for Identification
In my earlier blogs I sorted the graves into six different groups, based on the partial information I had.  F.ex., there are only around 40 gravestones with the family names written on them, so there was a lot of guessing - "Educated Guesses" and "Just Guesses".

This time the six groups will be quite different:

Group One: Family Name on the Gravestone

Group Two: Family Name based on the Lubaczow Death Register 1914 - 1938

Group Three: Family Name According to Relatives and Other Sources

Group Four: Unknown Family Name on Graves before September 2nd 1914

Group Five: Unknown Family Names on Graves after Dec 26th 1938

Group Six: Difficult or Impossible to Identify

In some cases, a grave will belong to more than one group.

One example:. Most of the graves with a family name on them, can also be found in the Lubaczow Death Register 1914 - 1938. They should then be classified as Group One and Group Two.

Another example:. Moshe Rettig's family name is on his gravestone, but he died after Dec 26th 1938, a period not covered by the Lubaczow Death Register. He should then be classified both as Group One and Group Five.

Always hoping to learn more about this cemetery and about the Jews who once lived in Lubaczow so that they can be remembered,

Eva Floersheim
